This is from a series of paintings I did about a woman named Meera I met at a TB Hospital in India.  The conditions of the hospital were horrible and I found this poor woman left alone at the end of a hospital ward with no one to care for her.  We ended up taking her to the rehabilitations center at Sewa Ashram, where I was working.  Her health condition was already too far gone and she ended up dying.  I painting this series of paintings when I returned home as a way of telling her story in the short time that I was able to know her.
